Functional Ingredients

Tricin-extract

Tinkature is positioned to become the world's first industrial-scale supplier of tricin-extract — a standardised flavonoid and polyphenol ingredient recovered from the dermal layer of sugarcane.

Formulated for carbohydrate-rich applications

Designed for incorporation into carbohydrate-rich foods and beverages. Tinkature supplies tricin-extract as a B2B food ingredient with its effect on the glycaemic response in foods is being characterised in trials at the University of Sydney's Glycaemic Index Research Service.

Invisible ingredient

Low addition rates without altering the intended colour, aroma or flavour of the final product. That makes it an "invisible" ingredient for foods and beverages.

Defined specification, clean extraction

Produced by counter-current ethanol extraction and standardised to total polyphenols and tricin content by validated HPLC; manufactured under HACCP / FSSC 22000. This maintains the polyphenol profile that occurs naturally in the plant.

Tricin-extract transforms sugarcane from a commodity crop into a source of high-margin functional food ingredients for the global food and beverage industry. Application areas include confectionery, baked goods, juices, soft drinks, breakfast cereals, breads and pastas.

Sugarcane Juice Concentrate

Sugarcane Juice Concentrate

A clarified, shelf-stable cane juice concentrate positioned as a high-purity alternative to apple juice concentrate — set to become the lowest-cost product in the global juice market.

Global market formalisation

Millions of current sugarcane juice consumers are restricted to seasonal, immediate street-side consumption due to rapid product oxidation. Our process removes those logistical barriers, producing a clarified, shelf-stable concentrate that enables year-round distribution through traditional retail channels.

The "neutral base" competitive edge

Positioned as a direct, high-purity alternative to apple juice concentrate. Its clarified profile lets brands use it as a neutral, high-purity sweetener base in foods and beverages without the turbidity or flavour-clashing of raw cane.

Superior cost-to-Brix & stability

Offers a more resilient price point than fruit-based concentrates. While orange and apple juice markets face 20-year volatility from crop disease, our sugarcane source provides year-round, high-yield supply with a superior nutrient-to-cost ratio.

Proprietary polyphenol retention

The product retains water-soluble polyphenols — flavonoids and phenolic acids — naturally present in cane juice, delivered in a safe, stable juice concentrate. This gives brands a clean, high-purity alternative to fruit-based concentrates.

Nutritional Fibre

Functional sugarcane pith-derived dietary fibre.

A high-purity, pith-derived dietary fibre with a clean-label functional profile — positioned as a direct replacement for established nutritional fibres on the market.

High-purity pith extraction

Recovered exclusively from the soft pithy tissue at the centre of the sugarcane stalk using the Tilby Lang System. Rigorous separation from the structural outer rind (Comrind) and epidermal layer (Dermax) ensures a clean, impurity-free fibre profile.

Capitalising on the fibre-enrichment shift

Just as protein dominated the last decade, high-performance dietary fibres are now a primary driver for "Better-For-You" innovation — offering a clean-label functional profile as consumers shift toward fibre-enrichment in everyday foods.

Retention of polyphenols

The CCE process ensures that almost all of the water-soluble sucrose is removed. Polyphenols like tricin-extract and phenolic acids occur first as the (hydrophobic) aglycone and then as the (hydrophilic) glycoside — and the tricin-extract recovered in the fibre is the hydrophobic version.

Superior food formulation

Readily formulated into a wide range of food categories, from dietary flours to functional snacks. In bakery applications, its high purity and physical properties enhance water retention — significantly improving crumb texture and naturally extending product shelf life.

Future Products

The three launch streams are only the beginning. Each fraction of the cane supports a much wider product matrix — from building products and biofuels to bioplastics, pharmaceuticals, animal feed and beverages — that becomes commercially viable as scale increases.

Future product categories from the Tilby Lang System — sugar products, building products, beverages, wax and polishes, nutritional fibre, biofuels, nutraceuticals, biochar, bioplastics, pharmaceuticals, absorbents, paper products, fuel pellets, animal feed, cosmetics and textiles.
